Hello again

Sun May 10, 2009, 8:31 PM
:pencil:NEWS____________________________________________________________

I'm back again after a long several-month-long hiatus. I've been terribly busy with school, and now I'm on summer break. I hope to offer you the fantastic millinery content to fill your hatular needs.

It appears as though our membership has run out. If anyone feels inclined and ever-so-gracious and generous to offer the club a membership, I would be grateful, and I'm sure the members would share the sentiment as well. Donors would (of course) be featured in our journal for the time period matching their donation!

:pc:FEATURES____________________________________________________________

I found this really neato website with gorgeous hats: ::Sweet Evie Hats::

Really sweet patterns for hats of various periods: ::Lynn McMasters::

Neato website offering information on how to make hairnets: ::Medieval Hairnets::

A very good source of images for historical hats, ::Kat's Hats::

That's it for now. I will come back with more links, info and stuff, soon.

Holy gosh...

Hi everybody, Thank you for your patience. I've been quite busy, (some of you know me as *Idzit) running about finishing costumes, going to a festival, being interviewed for a TV spot... :faint:

I'm getting back into it, and in the spirit of things, would like to invite everyone to discuss perhaps their summer hat experiences!
Have you seen any interesting ones? Did you get to wear some, and what were the general reactions of people? What is stopping you from wearing hats on a daily basis? Have you made hats this summer? What kind of materials did you use?

I myself have been working at a new retail job, and my boss doesn't mind me wearing hats in the store. He thinks it looks cute, and gives a certain look of flair, and it also makes people chat. I wore my French-inspired hat the other day to work, and got non-stop compliments. I know I shouldn't be wearing it indoors, but I've had so little time to be outside that I felt bad that I would have to leave it in my bag at work. It just goes to show that you shouldn't feel embarrassed that no one else is wearing a hat. Go out there, and [re]start the fashion trend!

:star:Five good reasons to wear a hat: :star:
5) You'll get compliments all day, therefore boosting your self-esteem, and furthermore propagating and radiating positive karma;
4) It protects your hair from sun-damage, saving you money on conditioner in the future, which you can in turn use to buy more awesome hats;
3) If the brim is wide enough, it can also protect your face from sun-damage, thus preserving your current state of hotness AND saving you from getting Botox/a facelift/a chemical peel/FACE CANCER later;
2) It can cover up a bad hair day - 'nuff said;
1) It just looks awesome. (Who doesn't want that?!)

Kudos to all of you who have been making an extra effort to wear hats. Keep up the good work! Give me a shout, tell me about your hatsperiences of the summer.

:star:About this club

I put together this club for all the people out there who appreciate hats as much as I do (or more, if that's even possible). By joining this club, you are not just belonging to a club, but hopefully it will give you the inner strength to wear hats everywhere (and take 'em off indoors, respectfully of course) and feel great about it. So if you join, you are agreeing to make a conscious effort to wear a hat outdoors, and this does not include a baseball cap. Those are just... not hats. They don't count.

:star:If you would like to join, send a note and put in the title "join", and I will add you to the list of members. Don't forget to watch us, there will eventually be contests and whatnot. =D Please feel free to let me know if you find a hat on DA that is favorite-worthy!!

Anyways, I hope you enjoy the club, spread the word!
and if you have any suggestions, please - oh god please - feel free to send 'em my way.

:star-empty: The club doesn't have a subscription yet =( but perhaps one day in the near future...
